Where Have I Been?

I have been outside playing in the sunshine the past 2.75 days, which was about how long the sunshine lasted. All that vitamin D really helped lift my mood, though. It's amazing what a few mornings out in the sun will do to improve my disposition and outlook on life. It's grey and drizzly again today and the forecast calls for more over the next three days, but at least we won't have a drought this summer. Right? Right?

In reading news, I borrowed the Wild Magic books by Tamora Pierce (yes, it's children's lit) from Rose on Tuesday evening and have already burned through the first book in the series and 20 pages of the second. I don't care that they are young adult fiction, these books are a good read!

In knitting/sewing/crafting news, I've FINALLY completed the Noro Mitered Square bag, including the lining, strap, interior pockets, etc. It's officially a Finished Object and will get it's very own post tomorrow (just as soon as I do a photo shoot). I've also finally finished those blasted Jaywalker socks. They, too, will get a post of their own over the next few days. I've begun a pair of Aran Braid socks in a random aqua colored superwash wool I received about 6 months ago from a swap. I'm hoping the solid colored yarn will show off the cables well.

OH! And I received a fantastic SP package from and Angel SP in Chicago! I'll post about that first. Tomorrow. When I have the time to download and crop the pictures. Now I'm off to shower and get to work.

Will someone please explain to me why each time I manage to get up early and be all sorts of productive, I end up losing steam much faster, but any day I wake up after 9:00, I get half as much done, but can stay up twice as long? There’s some proportional relationship between my productivity and my energy level.

In knitting news, I’m wrapping up a few random projects (namely gift socks of various shapes and sizes). I wound up 600 yards of the lace weight silk/merino for the Faroese shawl the other night and the ball winder worked like a dream (minus the part where it kept slipping off my kitchen table, in spite of the rubber grip c-clamp). The swift was a bit fussy, but I think that was more operator error.

In the reading dept., I've been immersed in the book No Idle Hands The Social History of American Knitting by Anne L. MacDonald. While knitting is mentioned in the title and throughout the book, it's a more of a social history on women and the women’s domestic role in America, from the mid 1700s through the 1990s.

I’m sure that no one here really cares, but my 2006 Revs are still trundling along. In a way. I’ve hit several snags and roadblocks, but I’m trying very hard not to allow them to derail to the whole effort. I’ve been totally distracted from classes this semester, but I realized it in enough time to veer back on course for the final in early May. The exercise/healthy habit thing has been harder than I expected. After a great start, life got in the way. But, I’m still plugging away and there are some aspects that are starting to become habit. I’m planning my meals better and getting a little more exercise and drinking more water. Baby steps and all that.

The biz is doing just fine. I’m currently interviewing marketing/PR people to see if any of them can get their minds wrapped around what exactly it is that I do. So far, it’s been a frustrating search. The whole business services/internet based/remote access/consulting thing seems like a difficult concept. I think I may need to look in other directions. Maybe a marketing specialist with a background in the arts? Hhm…

Oh! And Roomie gets back from Colorado in about 10 days, too! I can’t wait to see her! It’s been since before Christmas and we have sooo much to catch up on.
