I've lost track of the number of storms we've gotten here in Bean Town since the start of fall, but my guess is that it's somewhere around 6 or 7 at this point. Last night, after realizing I'm about 0.5 oz. short of CTH Supersock BlueBerry Hill yarn to finish the Peacock socks and not wanting to contemplate the idea of spending an additional $22 to get it (not to mention coming up with project for the remining 3.50 oz.), I started a new project. I'm about 5" into a Toasty Topper in Knitpicks Swish DK in the Storm color with a stripe of Grain Heather. I'm making it for the Cutest Baby in the World who also happens to be the Biggest Baby in the World (not fat, just BIG....21 lbs. by the age of 6 months). My guage was a little smaller than called for...okay a lot smaller: 5 stitches/inch rather than 4 stitches/inch. So I adjusted by adding two extra rounds of increases on the crown and I'll probably add at least an extra inch to the length before starting the ribbing, etc. After staring at the non-standard Cast On instructions for ten minutes while both the television and my oldest cat distracted me, I figured it out and everything since then has been smooth sailing. After this project, my plan is to swatch for a new cardigan for me (Marikal gave me some delicious dark teal Kilcarra tweed wool for Christmas!) and get started on a couple hats that will be a thankyou gift for a man I know who has been wonderful and helpful to me over the past year.
